Hello and welcome to my blog! I am Tilen Pepevnik, a passionate painter and watercolorist, and for the past few years I have been exploring the beauty and mysteries of watercolor. I look forward to sharing my artistic journey, techniques, and insights into the creative process with you.

My Journey

My interest in painting began in childhood, but I started to dedicate myself to this art form more seriously eight years ago. Watercolor captivated me with its unpredictability and the possibilities that colored water on cotton paper can offer. Every new project is a challenge and an opportunity to discover something new.

One of my earliest memories is being fascinated by my grandmother’s makeup palettes and eyeshadows. Seeing those colors stirred a special feeling in me, one I still find difficult to describe.

My first serious encounter with watercolor happened in elementary school during an art lesson. My teacher, Mrs. Danuška H., noticed my interest and gave me a large stack of watercolor paper so I could practice at home. I will always be grateful for that encouragement, especially because at the time I didn’t even know art supply stores existed, haha.

That is how my journey into the world of watercolor began. 🙂

Why Watercolor?

Watercolor is a unique medium that balances control and spontaneity. Colors flow and blend freely on paper, creating beautiful transitions and textures, and that very freedom constantly challenges the way you guide and “control” the paint. I enjoy exploring different ways of using colored water to create depth, light, and movement in a painting.

What to Expect on the Blog

On this blog, I will share tips and techniques I have developed over the years. I will also write about different ways of thinking and the ideas and theories behind my artistic processes. My goal is to offer you a behind-the-scenes look at my work and inspire you to explore the beauty of watercolor in your own way.

Thank you for joining me on this artistic journey. I hope you enjoy reading, and that my posts inspire your own creative endeavors.
